# FontSize

## Introduction

FontSize is used to adjust the size of the font used by the TextRuntime. Your particular platform may require fonts to be created as .fnt/.png pairs to be loaded, while other platforms can create fonts dynamically.

MonoGame, KNI, and FNA projects can dynamically create fonts at runtime by installing a KernSmith NuGet package. Without KernSmith, these platforms require fonts to be pre-created as .fnt/.png pairs, usually in FontCache.

Skia platforms can dynamically create fonts out of the box with no additional setup.

For more information on font setup, see the [Fonts](/gum/code/standard-visuals/textruntime/fonts.md) page.

## Example - Setting FontSize

The following code shows how to assign FontSize. Note that the effective font produced is a combination of the current values of other font values.

```csharp
// Initialize
MyTextRuntime.FontSize = 18;
```

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.flatredball.com/gum/code/standard-visuals/textruntime/fontsize.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
